Hit the Ground Running in 2011
Miss Meg Goes |
As the Bluevine Collective expands its reach, I direct this particular post to readers in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. I invite you to participate in two events that will challenge and inspire you this year. (Don’t worry if you’re coming solo, I’ll be at both of these.)
The Spark Series (Tuesdays @ 7 pm, January 11 – February 1) is a chance to meet in a small group setting to discuss a goal, or a risk that will make you or the world a better place. It’s a small commitment for a short period of time, but I believe in the power of community and brainstorming, so you can’t go wrong here. Also, anyone can start a Spark series, so no excuses for the Indianpolis or Seattle or Lexington readers! Spark into 2011.
Social Justice Camp (over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend) will be a gathering of activists, artists, idealists and technologists gathered in collaborative pursuit of social justice. So if any of those descriptors fit, then we want you! (And even if none of those words describe you, still come. It’s free.) Never been to camp or “unconference”? This format puts the schedule in the hands of the attendees – you get to vote on and lead your own sessions! It also ties nicely with Martin Luther King, Jr weekend so conference attendees can participate in a day of service together.
What’s your theme for 2011? To take risks? To cross that item off your bucket list? To search for the Divine? Whatever it is, these are two events to get your creative juices flowing.
Both of these events are free. Both are in January. Both are in Washington, D.C.
